Painted Metallic Books

I just love this!! What a great and fun idea, especially that it is so quick to do! Thanks for sharing.

I’ve covered books in wrapping paper before, but this is so much better! And, your cardboard box trick is genius! Love it!

Sherry…just fantastic!! What a fun, and easy, way to jazz up your bookshelves or mantel. You always have such incredible ideas.

Thanks for sharing them with the rest of us.

Hugs, Lynn

These are beautiful Sherri

Love them.

I’m so in love with this. I will have to take a trip to the store to buy books just to do this! It would be the perfect accent to my living room! Thanks so much for the inspiration!

Good luck with your books, Kate! Thanks for visiting my blog!

This is such a cute idea. And the books are gorgeous enough to stand on their own as decorations.

Sherry I love some gold here and there as well and this idea is fantastic! And how easy! I have a few books that I like to use for decoration and this would really add some glam to them!

Sherry, These are so beautiful. Very great idea and I may have to copy…LOL!

This is a terrific idea. I am pinning it absolutely going to use this.

I am impressed in how you used cut out boxes to protect the page. Proof that if you think on it, you can usually find a way.

It will be really cute on all sorts of items, thrift store vases, lamps, boring Christmas ornaments.

How fun Sherry, and so easy to do. I love how they turned out, They look fantastic and make such pretty decor. I never would have thought of using tape and round stickers, and then spray painting the books to make home decor. I love this idea!

Such a cute idea. Thanks for sharing your DIY at the Inspiration Spotlight party. Pinned & shared.

Your metallic books are gorgeous. Great idea!

These are fantastic! I love the gold but they could be any color for any decor. Such a great idea.

Sharing on Facebook.

Sherry, these look great! Gloria uses lots of gold decor pieces at her place. She is going to love this idea! Pinned. Thanks for sharing at Snickerdoodle!

Hi Sherry! I love this! Definitely going on the “to do” list! Thanks for sharing and linking up at DI & DI! We love seeing your projects each week!

What a great idea! I’ve been collecting old worn and beaten up books from thrift stores to fill some shelves, but now I think I’m going to start picking up cheap books no matter the cover to try this! Great idea!! Thank you for sharing at Merry Monday!!

Very fun idea! Love how they look on your side table with the other gold accents. Very ingenious painting setup with the soda boxes! Visiting from Favorite Things party.

Sherry, this is awesome!! I am decorating an apartment and that would look great there, thanks so much for the inspiration!! Sharing!

Love this! The books on our shelves always seem to have an obnoxious color that doesn’t go with the room at all. This would make them look pretty and keep them readable too!

Thank you for submitting this to the Simply Sweet Home Linky Party. You were my choice to be featured this week.

What a creative idea!

Great idea, I will be making these for sure! You can find inexpensive books at the library. I appreciate the step by step pictures too, thanks

This is such a great idea! What a wonderful way to adapt books to your personal style. Thanks for linking up with Merry Monday last week – I chose your painted books as my Feature Pick for this week. Hope you’ll stop by and link up again!

Such a fabulous project Sherry. Thanks so much for sharing it at Shabbilicious Friday this week. I’m delighted to be featuring it at tomorrow’s party. Hugs ~ Kerryanne

Aren’t you the clever one? Thanks for the inspiration. For my home I would probably go with something like the gold but in the right room those colors would be so fun and unexpected. Visiting via Inspire Me Monday. Glad I stopped in.

Pamela

Great idea!! I like plate color for my books, I try it!!!! Thanks you.

[…] love this DIY project for making metallic book covers from The Savvy Apron. It adds such a classy and up~to~date look to any […]

I made these painted metallic books in just a few minutes, and I am loving how cute my books turned out. I am still obsessed with gold and from the looks of it, it’s not going away anytime soon. If it’s gold, I’m sold! I also love anything metallic, and I think using metallics when decorating just makes the room sparkle. I used a few books that I had at home but you can usually find books at yard sales or thrift stores for hardly any money at all.

You can use so many different things to design your painted metallic books but I used round stickers and frog tape.

I used cardboard boxes with holes cut out to hold my books so that I can spray paint the covers while keeping the pages safe from the paint.

I spray painted the books the color that I wanted the dots and stripes. I wanted gold dots, so I sprayed the book gold before applying the dot stickers. I wanted silver stripes so I sprayed one of the books silver first.

I taped off my designs and took my books back outside to spray paint them again. I used white spray paint for the second coat of paint.

After the books had dried, I removed the frog tape and the stickers.

The painted metallic books add a little bling and a little elegance to my writing desk. I am all about decor that you can make easily with items that you already have in your home.
