I cant wait to try this! I’m having a baby in January and this seems like a easy dinner side to prepare for now!

Potatoes are a great way to fill up without spending a lot of money. Plus, almost everyone loves potatoes. If you have kids french fries are probably their favorite way to eat potatoes. Unfortunately, French fries seem expensive for as cheap as a bag of potatoes is. I hate spending money on store-bought french fries. I used to occasionally make my own french fries, but I found it too time-consuming to cut up the potatoes every time. Then I started freezing my own french fries and found it is so easy and we always have them on hand if I want to serve fries for dinner.
If you are making up a batch of fries you can spend just a few more minutes and make 3-4 times the amount you need. It’s easy to make these homemade frozen french fries. Not only will you save money, but you know exactly what you are putting into the french fries too.
Start with a 5-pound bag of potatoes. I recommend russet potatoes, they are inexpensive and make great fries. You will want to wash, scrub, and clean any bad spots from the potatoes. Next, you will need to cut the potatoes into fry sized slices. You can cut them by hand or use a slicer. I have one that I picked up on Amazon and I love it.
Once you have all the potatoes cut you will want to boil them for 5 minutes. This helps soften them and kills off any bacteria before you freeze them.
When you are done boiling them place them on a small baking sheet making sure they aren’t touching. Place the baking sheet in the freezer for about 45 minutes to an hour or until fries are frozen. When they are frozen you can transfer them to a freezer-safe Ziploc bag.
To cook the fries just pull them from the freezer, place on a baking sheet and bake in the oven at 350 degrees for about 10-15 minutes or until golden and crispy. Season with salt or other seasonings. We love seasoned salt on fries. The fries should be good for about 6-9 months stored in the freezer.
So next time skip the store-bought and save some money with these delicious homemade frozen french fries. Your family will love them and you will love saving money.
